The verdict is out. Krrish 3 opened to almost 100 percent opening all across the nation, thereby belying the belief that the pre-Diwali days are dangerous for the boxoffice.

Audiences swear that the film's special effects are on a par with the super-hero franchise from Hollywood namely Iron Man,Superman and Spiderman.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra gives full marks to Krissh 3 for the special effects. `I am stunned that such special effects are possible in a Hindi film. These special effects are all the more commendable as they are done in India by Indian technicians at one-tenth the budget of a Hollywod super-hero film.`

While raving over the special effects in Dhoom 3 trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, `What sets Krissh 3 apart is the marriage of Indian emotions with special-effects. The film combines the age-old thought of Good vanquishing Evil using modern VFX techniques that are world-class.There is a strong storyline and the grip that Rakesh Roshan maintains over the narration is superb. Finally it is the homegrown super-hero who wins your heart again.`

Taran says every parent and child is moved by the father-son bonding. Both father and son are played by Hrithik Roshan. ` The emotions are the USP here. The father-son bond and what happens when the arch-villain Kaal wreaks havoc in their lives, are the plot's mainstay.`

Adds trade analyst Atul Mohan, `This is just the beginning for SFX-driven cinema in Bollywood. And hats off to Mr Rakesh Roshan for trusting Indian technicians to do the special effects.Who else would have dared to try such ambitious visuals without Hollywood's help?We will grow further from here.`

Film critic Mayank Shekhar is not fully satisfied with the quality and quantity of special effects Krrish 3. `The motif of falling buildings has been the standard motif of pretty much all super-hero films in Hollywood since 9/11. You see it Krrish 3 as well, especially the stunning sequence of the super-villain being horizontally dragged across glass walls of skyscrapers one after another (there was something similar in the latest Superman flick The Man Of Steel, if I am not mistaken). The iron pieces jut out to attach themselves on the villain's body as well, much as they do for Iron Man. Clearly an effort has been made to approximate the special effects that Hollywood super-hero movies are known for. But these scenes are too few and far between, and the screen looks grainy, the production values in general never match up. This is understandable given the budgets Bollywood operates in, which is determined by the kind of money Hindi films stand to make in the first place.

Iron Man 3 picked up over $8,500 million from worldwide ticket sales alone. The last Spiderman crossed the $1 billion mark, which on current rates would equal Rs 6,000 crore. The biggest Indian film in comparison will will be happy to touch Rs 200 crore. If anything, given the disparity in scale, Krrish 3, particularly the climax, doesn't look half as low in quality of special effect as it should.`

Chandan Arora who edited Krrish 3 feels we still have a long way to go. `We are still not ona par with our Hollywood counterparts.American super-hero films have the advantage of many years of experience and also the advantage of an educated audience.`

Producer-director Rakesh Roshan is pleased with the response so far. `We were very sure that we had to have special-effects on a par with the Hollywood super-hero films. But how to do it, when our entire budget for all the action sequences was what the Hollywood super-hero films spend on one action sequence. We were determined not to compromise on the quality of the action scenes. Instead we decided to cut down on the number of action scenes to remain within budget.I think we've achieved a quality of action and special effects that are comparable with world cinema.`
