Ramesh Sippy was absent from the trailer launch of the 3D version of his own iconic film, 'Sholay'

Ramesh Sippy was conspicious by his absence at an event to launch the first trailer of Sholay 3D on Thursday. The film's director gave it a skip apparently due to the ongoing family tussle between the Sippy brothers.

The film's writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar unveiled the 3D first look. The entire Sippy family was in attendance except for Ramesh Sippy. Producer Boney Kapoor was also present.


Producer Jayantilal Gada says, `We had invited Ramesh Sippy but he refused to attend the event because of family issues. We then thought it was best to start the promotions with the film's writer duo Salim-Javed.`

Adds Gada, `We will approach him again and I hope he agrees to promote the film as he is the director and he deserves to be a part of it.`
