Neighbours of Amitabh Bachchan's office located at Nyoma building in the Juhu Vile Parle Development (JVPD) scheme were peeved by the noise generated by the renovation, which continued even in the night, police sources said on Wednesday.
Not to be bogged down by the superstar's clout, some of them asked police intervention and eventually the renovation work was brought to a halt with the police's help last week, the sources said.
DCP Amitabh Gupta confirmed that residents had lodged a complaint with the police last week. "We immediately sent our men to the place (Bachchan's office) and brought the work to a halt," he said.
Police said the residents of Sea Breeze Apartments, located adjacent to Nyoma building, complained that the renovation was being conducted till late hours and despite the inconvenience having been brought to the notice of the staff of the superstar, it did not stop.
"The renovation, particularly in the night, has been going on for the past six months, and although Bachchan's staff was told to stop it, nothing happened," a resident said on the condition of anonymity.
":hey didn't care even for the elderly people who cannot sleep in the night if there is slightest noise. What we expect from them was to stop renovation work in the night," he further said.
