Around the end of 2011, Imtiaz Ali and his wife Preety had announced that they will be co-producing the Hindi remake of the south Korean romantic action comedy film, My Girlfriend Is An Agent.
The project was supposed to mark Preety's foray into film production with their production house PI films. UTV, which has bought the rights of the original movie, had agreed to co-produce the film. At that time neither Preety nor Imtiaz obviously had foreseen what was to unfold in their personal relationship.
Two years later, the equation between the couple has totally changed. The two have decided to go their personal ways and if the buzz is to be believed, Imtiaz is in no mood to continue with the professional partnership either.
The South Korean film, which was a runaway hit in its home country, tells the story of two spies on a mission to stop Russian mafia from stealing an advanced chemical weapon.
Choreographer Bosco (of the Bosco-Ceasar duo) was to make his debut as the director of the film, but it looks like even if the movie happens, it will be sans Preety's involvement.
According to sources close to the couple, `The movie might happen but the dynamics of the production will have to be redone in the coming months. Most probably Imtiaz and Preety will not be co-producing it.`
When we asked Bosco about it he simply said, `No, that's not happening.` While Preety decided to stick to the safe `It is too early to comment on anything right now.`
Imtiaz Ali was not available for comment.
