A case has been registered against Meera and her mother Shafqat Zohra in the Garden Town police jurisdiction in Lahore for threatening a photographer of a newspaper, the Daily Times said on Wednesday.
Police officials, quoting the first information report lodged against Meera, said photographer S A Raza was on his way home to Faisal Town on his motorcycle when a car came from behind and hit him near New Campus.
As Raza fell off his bike, five armed men came out of the car and started beating him up. The assailants told Raza that he was being punished for printing "bad things" about Meera in the media.
"If you go to the authorities, it will be even worse for you," the men allegedly said, according to the report. Raza was admitted to hospital with head injury and a fractured arm.
A case has been registered against Meera, her mother and the five unidentified men.
Reaction to the charges, Meera told the Times she had "no idea what was going on and had nothing to say about it.
Meera, who created controversy with her steamy scenes in Mahesh Bhatt's Nazar had drawn flak from the conservative factions in Pakistan.
