The 25-year-old, whose debut show "Beintehaa" will go on air Monday on Colors, admits that reality shows give exposure, but said: "I would never participate in a reality show. I am a very private person and I am not comfortable doing anything like that."
"I want to face the camera only as an actor and not as a participant of a reality show," Preetika told IANS in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.
"I understand that it gives a lot of exposure to people, but that's not what I am looking for. I would never like to see myself on camera like that and I am really not looking forward to participate in any such shows," she added.
Preetika started her career as a journalist and made her debut in Tamil cinema in December 2010 with "Chikku Bukku".
Talking about her show "Beintehaa", which revolves around a couple who are not in love with each other, she feels confident that the Muslim community is going to appreciate their work and the show.
"It's a glamorous show that revolves around two Muslim families and I am sure they are going to appreciate our work and the show," she said.
What made her accept the show?
"The storyline of the show is great. It's a refreshing story. Moreover, TV is the masses medium and it is giving bigger opportunities to actors now. Plus, lots of people are addicted to daily soaps. So, I thought it would be exciting to do the show," Preetika said.
