Zinta said the abusive messages were sent in the name of some Bollywood stars, but she suspects that it was somebody else who is trying to trouble her, according to police sources.
Although the Bollywood star ignored the SMSs initially, she decided to move the police earlier this week when the frequency of such messages increased and there was no sign of it coming to an end, the sources added.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta, police is trying to identify the cell phone from where the SMSs are being sent to the actress.
"One thing is sure. The sender is from Pune and the case appears to be similar to the ransom demand made by some college students to another Bollywood actress Kim Sharma," Gupta said.
Sources close to the actress said the actress avoids making her cellphone number public and only a few people who are known and close to the actress have the number.
Perhaps, the prankster could have managed to get the number from these few close ones to make the abusive SMSs, the sources added.
