Varma, who was in the capital along with director Jijy Philip and lead actor Anil Kapoor to promote the film, says it showcases the mind of a husband who accidentally ends up as a murderer.
"While in murder mysteries, the crime is a premeditated one, in this movie the murder is an accident. The film tries to portray the mind of an accidental murderer and never plays hide and seek with the audience," Varma told here.
"The movie was in my mind even before I made my directorial debut in 'Shiva'. Its script is original and not a remake of any movie - Indian or foreign.
"The characters are very much identifiable and public will connect to them because of their intense emotions. It's a story that every family can easily recognise as a part of their society," said the maker of such hits as "Rangeela" and "Company".
Director Philip said preparing for the movie was one of the biggest challenges for him as it was his debut film.
"Definitely, the film was a challenge for me and the final draft of the script was prepared after working on it for six months. The film that the audience will see is the 12th draft of the original script," he said.
"The draft was good, but I along with my script writer tried to delve deep into the mind of Ravi Patvardhan, the lead character. Both of us worked on all kinds of psychological details possible and tried to incorporate as much as possible."
Anil Kapoor is also upbeat about the film.
"Even though I was a little apprehensive while signing the movie, everything turned out to be good later on. The character that I am portraying is a common man and people can identify with him," he said.
"Now I can assure my fans that though the film has no songs, it will give them pure entertainment. I have given my best to the project and people are bound to come to the theatre," said Kapoor.
Kapoor is working with Varma for the first time with this film, which was shot in 28 days with a budget of Rs.45 million and will be released Friday.
Suchitra Krishnamoorthy of "Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na" fame plays the lead opposite Kapoor in the movie.
