Chitrangada had initially indicated to director Ruchi Narayan that she was considering opting out of acting as she had her personal and family life to attend to, one of the reasons she missed the film's festival screening in Delhi.
Subsequently, she confirmed her resolve to quit acting for good, though she told Narayan that she would participate in the pre-release campaign.
However, with no further communication from her, both Narayan and producer Sudhir Mishra are in a fix in case she fails to turn up for the music launch on Aug 31 and other related events. The film is being released Sep 16.
According to Narayan, all the satellite channels with which they had tied up for the promotion needed the actors to speak for the film.
"... her decision to quit is obviously not beneficial to us. It would have been a different issue if she had announced her decision three days prior to the film's release but this has happened a whole month in advance. It is imperative that she honours her commitments. It is unfair on her part to put us in trouble like this," she says.
