Pakistani film actress Meera has threatened to go on hunger strike if Pervez Elahi, Chief Minister of
the Punjab province, does not give her an appointment to discuss a proposal for the Shafqat Trust,
her charity organisation.
Meera claimed Mr Elahi refused to respond even though she tried to contact him several times before
leaving for India and complained that on the other hand leading comedian Umar Sharif had been
immediately given time.
''What's so special about Umar Sharif,'' she asked, expressing regret over the lack of support from
the government for her social endeavours.
"I am reaching Pakistan soon, and if the CM does not meet me, I will go on hunger strike," Meera,
who is presently in India for some Bollywood film assignments, told Daily Times.
She will be seen in another Mahesh Bhatt directed film titled ‘Killer', in which her role is similar to the
one that Madhuri Dixit performed in Tezab as a dancer.
She has also signed ‘Roti' co-staring Bobby Deol.
Meera also said she had asked Javed Akhtar to write for her family production, to be released in
Pakistan.
Interestingly, her sister, Aqsa was also offered a role in another Mahesh Bhatt directed ‘Gangster' ,
which she turned down as ''it required a great deal of exposure." "I will rather wait for decent roles,"
said Meera who herself had cuased a fuore here for a controversial kissing scene in Bhatt's ''Nazar''
which was later removed from the film.
She wanted an image like Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla for her sister, Meera said.
