Speaking after the flash marriage Sunday afternoon, Vinta rhapsodised: "It's literally like 'chat mangni pat byah', except that there was no mangni (engagement)...I'm too old for that.
"We decided to get married in the morning and underwent a ceremony in the afternoon. Anil and I have known each other for years and we just decided to make it legal. Anil is an engineer in the merchant navy with no connection with the movie business.
"We've known each other for 20 years. It was a very steady friendship...Now when we were holidaying together in Goa we said, why not?".
Hence the knot. Vinta has had a tumultuous relationship with filmmaker Raman Kumar, which formed the core of her first directorial venture "White Noise"..
"I think I've finally exorcised myself of my past. The profile of my relationship with Raman has changed. He's now my business partner. Anil knows Raman and all my friends. It's a very comfortable situation for us.
"Anil and I would lose touch for many years, then be together again. Now it seemed the right thing to do when he was here (in Goa). He came to India about a fortnight ago. We came to Goa to see whether the relationship works for us. It seemed right. When he proposed to me I immediately said yes without thinking.".
Vinta has an adopted daughter. Would she find it hard to adjust to a new presence in her mom's life?.
"Not at all. My daughter has known Anil for years. He's a part of our family. She's very friendly with him. She's in Mumbai. When I informed her of our marriage she was laughing and giggling happily on the phone."
