Saregama Films Limited, a subsidiary of Saregama India Limited of RPG group, on Tuesday entered into an agreement with celebrated director Rituparna Ghosh to direct Draupadi based on the epic Mahabharata.

Announcing this in Kolkata, Vice-Chairman of RPG Group Sanjiv Goenka told reporters that the film would be made in Hindi as well as in English for targeting the international audience.

Asked about the budget of the film, he said "it will not be a low-budget one."

Ghosh, who had earlier directed films like Unishe April, Dahan, Utsav, Chokher Bali and Shubho Maharat in Bengali, said "I always wanted to do a film depicting the women in Mahabharata.

He said Draupadi epitomised woman's power. Casting of the character, necessarily to be dark in complexion, would be difficult.

Ghosh said that the cast would be finalised once the script was ready.

He expected to start shooting in the first quarter of the next financial year.
