''Whatever needs to be done to make jury members aware of my film Paheli will be done within confines of accepted norms,'' he told reporters here.
''Paheli'', directed by Palekar, was yesterday selected by the Film Federation of India to represent the country in the foreign films category for the Oscars.
He said it was necessary to understand that no lobbying could be done because it could get the film disqualifiedl. However, it was necessary to make the jury members aware of the film as there were many entries in the foreign films category and it was not possible to physically see all of them.
''Whatever needs to be done will be done and, as it is, Shah Rukh is coincidentally in the States,'' he said.
''I never lobbied for the film here and will never do it. I made the film as we believed in it. The film is Indian, the music is Indian and even the jury has acknowledged it,'' he said.
Assistant Director of the movie and Palekar's wife Sandhya Gokhale, who wrote the screenplay, said international recognition is not something new for the director.
In 1996, the ''Time'' magazine included his ''Daira'' among the top ten films in the world and his Marathi film ''Akrit'' received international acclaim a few years ago, she added.
Palekar is organising the ''Tendulkar Festival'' from October 3-9 at the Yashwantrao Chavan auditorium here in the city.
