"We have called him to get his statement as his name was mentioned by the accused (Jain)," a police official said here Wednesday.
No date, however, was fixed for interrogation.
The Mumbai police had claimed that Jain gave supari or contract money to Naresh Pardesi - an alleged former aide of underworld-don-turned-politician Arun Gawli - to eliminate Bhandarkar.
Not only have Jain and Pardesi been arrested but three others, who, according to police, were supposed to execute the plan, too have been taken into custody along with weapons.
Pardesi and Jain had alleged that the "Page 3" director had paid Rs.85,000 to Gawli to ensure his (Bhandarkar's) safety and expose Jain to police.
Bhandarkar, who was provided a security cover after the alleged plot came to light, denied that he had made any contact with Gawli.
Jain had accused Bhandarkar in July last year of sexually exploiting her with promises of roles in his movies.
