Sanjay Dutt was said to be very close to his mother Nargis Dutt. It was Nargis' dream to see Sanjay as a successful Bollywood actor, however she could not live till that day.

Nargis died due to cancer and it took the actor a lot of time to get out from the shock. "I miss my mother all the time. As I remember her each time, everything comes to me in flashes," Sanjay Dutt had stated. The actor credits his mother for making him the man that he is.
