Yesteryears' ‘dancing star' Mithun Chakraborty is the most popular Indian star in Kazakhstan, as a delegation of the Mumbai film industry found during its visit to Kazakhstan.
During its visit to Kazakhstan to attend the second Eurasia II International film festival at Almaty, the delegation, comprising filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, Asian film festival chairman Kiran Shantaram and festival director Sudhir Nandagaonkar, was not asked about Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan Or even Salman Khan.
Rather, people everywhere in Kazakhstan just enquired about Mithun, trade sources revealed.
Mithun has been a favourite of people in Russia and several central Asian republics ever since his ‘Disco Dancer' days. And, as the Indian delegation found, the charisma of the actor remains intact.
