They made headlines over custody of their baby few weeks ago. They moved the court, and then
there were allegations and counter allegations. It seemed daughter Samaira had worsened the spat
between Bollywood actress Karishma Kapoor aka Lolo and business tycoon Sanjay Kapur.
Chances of a patch-up seemed negligible after the kind of charges the two had levelled against each
other in their replies to the Delhi High Court. But, The Samaira Polo Cup on Sunday told a different
story, with both Sanjay and Karishma trying to give an impression that they were "made for each
other".
Though the seven-month-old Samaira, on whose name the proud dad had organized the tournament,
was not seen at the Jaipur Polo Ground here, but it was very much obvious that only because of her,
Karishma and Sanjay were together again.
Talking to mediapersons, Sanjay said, "Karishma loves polo and she enjoyed the game...(But)
Samaira hasn't come because she is very young at the moment. The Samaira Cup is going to an
annual tournament, so I am sure she will be here through the years."
It is indeed ‘the Samaria magic' that could not keep Karishma away from Sanjay. Sitting in a corner
away from mediapersons, Karishma was quietly watching hubby playing polo in an exhibition match
before the finals. She was looking as stunning as always in a designer military colour shirt and blue
jeans, and sunglasses on eyes.
As Sanjay dismounted form his horse, and moved towards Karishma all eyes, all camera lenses
were on the couple. Photographers were looking for a ‘photo op' and Sanjay didn't upset
them.
He put his hand on Karishma's shoulder and the two moved towards the central row
on the stadium, where all ‘Page 3' people were sitting, including Sanjay's family.
The celebrity couple looked happy, and very much together, as they watched the final match. Now,
God knows it was for the mediapersons, or the little Samaira has really bridged the gap between her
parents. But, some sort of closeness between the duo was evident.
The Samaira Polo Cup has been conceptualised by Sanjay's father Dr. Surinder Kapur, Chairman,
The Sona Group, as India's first ever charity polo event. The objective of the Cup was to use it as a
platform to highlight the issues of child welfare in India.
Sanjay expressed happiness that the noble work was initiated on his daughter's name, and said that
he would be happy if Samaira also plays polo like him when she grows up.
Earlier, Karishma's sister Kareena had said that the couple had sorted out their differences,
especially because of the baby girl. According to Kareena, Samaira is a great cementing force
between the two, and Sanjay really loves her.
Sanjay and Karishma, with daughter Samaira, had also gone to Goa earlier this month to celebrate
their second wedding anniversary. At the end of this month, they are going on holiday to Germany,
where Sanjay has some business to attend to. They will spend time in Germany, and then proceed
for a vacation elsewhere.
In August, Sanjay had alleged in the Delhi High Court that his wife was trying to take their daughter
to the United States on a fake passport without his knowledge. In a reply, Karishma's family said
that Sanjay did not support his wife and child emotionally and financially.
But, in September end, the two patched up on the issue of passport for their daughter and told the
court that they were making ‘progress' on other matrimonial issues.
And now, the marriage that once seemed on the rocks is firmly back on the track, and Karishma is
once again basking in marital bliss.
