After three decades of acting, Alok Nath, better known as Babuji, will finally enter the comedy genre with TV show Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai, reports The Times of India.

"I got this offer because of the jokes that went viral on a micro blogging site. It made me believe that I do have a comic bone and I wanted to explore it before dying. The show is all about clean comedy. Also, it's different since it has a theatrical approach. The set is like a stage and will have a live audience, who will not participate," he says.

However, the actor says he was apprehensive. "I was concerned about the viewers' acceptance. But people have found a comic slant in me, which I was never aware of. When we shot the pilot episode in front of the guest audience, they laughed. That boosted my confidence," he explains.

Alok will play a Babuji in this show as well. "My character hands over his house to his son and leaves for an ashram, visiting him only occasionally. The son rents it out to people who are from different backgrounds. The show is funny and at times, emotional too."

Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai hits the tube on July 7 and will air from Monday to Friday at 10.30 pm on SAB TV.
