Neil N Nikki is not a copy of some American film as many claim. "It is a romantic comedy shot in
America," says director Arjun Sablok. After directing ad films and songs like Dhoom with Tata
Young, Arjun Sablok's directorial debut film Na Tum Jaano Na Hum didn't do well at the box-office
despite having stars like Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan and Esha Deol.
"It was a personal success for me," says the director who hails from Vancouver. "I feel I should have
trimmed the film. It was about a girl from Delhi who did not want to get married before meeting the
boy," he says.
"Whereas Neil N Nikki is about a boy and a girl born and brought up in Canada. The hero wants to
get married to a girl from Bhatinda. But before his marriage he wants to meet 21 girls in 21 days.
During the course, he meets a girl called Nikki Bakshi who helps him meet the other girls," Arjun
says. The film stars Uday Chopra and Tanishaa in the lead.
How was the experience working with them?
"I have known them since their childhood
days. I have seen them grow and their sense of humour matches mine," he says. Arjun has always
been a Yash Chopra fan and has worked with him for a long time.
"Yes, Yash Chopra is my
mentor and I start my day by touching his feet. I was always inspired by his films and have worked
with him. I have been on the sets and worked in different departments. That's why my films reflect
his style," he says.
