Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan was admitted to a private hospital here late Monday night after being discharged earlier from a private clinic in New Delhi where he was treated for a stomach ache.

Bachchan, 63, was flown in here after being discharged from the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre in New Delhi.

"He was admitted to the hospital due to some stomach pain. Now his condition is stable and we have discharged him after all the required check ups," Naresh Trehan, the executive director of the Escorts hospital, told reporters.

Trehan said that Bachchan's condition was normal.

"We conducted some medical tests and all the reports were normal. He is feeling comfortable and he has been given medicine," said Trehan, who attended on the star.

Bachchan, who was in Lucknow Sunday, was admitted to the Escorts facility early Monday morning.

Besides his wife Jaya and son Abhishek, Samajwadi Party leader and close friend Amar Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav visited Bachchan in the hospital in Delhi.
