Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar will be conferred the Raj Kapoor Smriti Award by the Maharashtra government for his contribution to Indian cinema.

After winning four National Awards for his films Chandni Bar, Page 3, Fashion and Traffic Signal, the filmmaker, who is busy making his next Calendar Girls, says this is as an important award too.

The other film personalities who will be honoured are veteran actress Tanuja and Marathi actress Uma Bhende at an event to be held in Mumbai soon.
