If in "Oka Laila Kosam" she is paired with Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, Pooja will team up with Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan in Ashutosh Gowariker's next.
"I believe luck is when opportunities meet preparation and I have been preparing for a good role for the last two years. I feel divine grace has come my way and I have been lucky enough to get roles that I wanted. Luck and preparation have been my pillars of strength," Pooja told IANS.
"I'm definitely blessed, there's no doubt about it. I prepared, and the right opportunity came my way and everything else fell in place. I also waited because I didn't have a strong role in 'Mugamoodi' to showcase my talent," she said.
Directed by Vijay Kumar Konda, "Oka Laila Kosam", a romantic-comedy, is slated for release in September.
In the past two years, Pooja got several offers films, including Bollywood ones, but she didn't take them up.
Eventually, when "Oka Laila Kosam" came her way, she grabbed it because she "really liked the script".
"It's a film from a great banner, by a director who is riding high on the success of 'Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde' and it also has Naga Chaitanya. This is my first film in Telugu, therefore, I took these factors into consideration before signing it," she said.
Chaitanya is a very "friendly" co-star says Pooja, and added: "Since I was new to Hyderabad and the industry, he kept me entertained.
For the film she even learned Telugu, but said: "It was like learning Chinese because it's an alien language to me. I found Tamil more similar to Tulu, so I could easily pick it up, but Telugu was very difficult. It took me a while to understand and even mouth my dialogues," she said.
She is currently shooting for her second Telugu film by Srikant Addala.
Meanwhile, Pooja is "excited" about her Hindi movie debut.
"I'm more excited. I really have a lot to prove, so I just want to put my head down and work right now," she added.
