Actor-director Akbar Khan today denied that there was an Income Tax raid on his house yesterday.
However, he did admit that the IT officials had come for a ''routine TDS check'' last morning.
Talking to press, Khan said he had filed a police complaint against a reporter of a private news channel who had entered his premises at 0100 hrs past midnight last
night.
He added that he plans to file a defamation case in this connection.
Reacting to news aired on the channel this morning that he had assaulted and forcibly detained the Reporter who had gone to his house to cover the IT raids, Khan
described the act of the Reporter as a case of trespassing, assault on his wife, defaming his character by announcing that the IT had raided his residence.
He said last night he was away at his nephew's (actor Fardeen Khan) mehndi ceremony and his wife was alone at home with their son who was not keeping well when the
reporter entered his premises and started filming at 0100 hrs.
''My wife saw him and put her hand on his lenses. The reporter and those accompanying him pushed her and twisted her arm and she nearly fell down,'' he charged.
''When I came home, I did slap the reporter for entering my house without permission. I held him back and handed him over to the police,'' he said and added that the reporter
had ''cooked up a story'' before the police that I had assaulted him and forcibly detained him.
''Fortunately, all the conversation he had with us had been recorded in his camera which I have procured and handed over to the police. I have one copy with me and will
pursue the police case which I have filed against him.''
