On June 26, Madhuri Dixit had gone to Bhopal and the Madhya Pradesh government had issued a press release saying that the actress has been appointed as the brand ambassador of the Mamta Abhiyan for two years. But interestingly, Madhuri was not present at the launch of part two of the Mamta Abhiyan campaign, and she was also not seen on the campaign poster.
When contacted, MP's health minister, Narottam Mishra, said, `I will have to check and let you know.`
But a leading daily has quoted him saying, `Madhuri Dixit was not a part of Mamta Abhiyan.`
Meanwhile, Pravir Krishn, principal health secretary, MP's department of public health and family welfare, says that Madhuri Dixit is the 'mamta doot' or 'celebrity advocate' for the Mamta Abhiyan. Explaining her absence at the event, he says, `It's not possible for her to attend all the events. But we are shooting some videos with her that Pradeep Sarkar will direct.`
Sarkar, however, says, `Nothing has been finalised as of now.` On the other hand, the actress's spokesperson says, `Madhuri Dixit has collaborated with UNICEF to work on women and child related issues. The Mamta Abhiyan was just a part of it and MP was the first state where it was launched. She is not an ambassador for the MP government's campaign. Nor is she shooting any videos for the same.`
