Legendary Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle hopes her granddaughter Zanai would carry on the family legacy.

"I hope she carries on the legacy (gharaana) of music in our family. When she performed with me in Paris, people came up to me and said the family tradition will be kept alive through her as she sings so well," Asha said here during the launch of the Bengal music album "Pancham Tumi Kothay", produced by Saregama.

The 12-year-old features in Asha's recently launched single "Bappa Mourya".

"She listens to my songs as well as Lata (Mangeshkar) di's songs. I want to groom her in classical music. She learns Kathak as well. I have told her that she should sing for her own happiness and for herself. There is no need to be a playback singer or actress," she said.
