"It is a very interesting role coming after a long time. In fact, it was the character-driven script that got me interested in the film," Kapur reveals.
In the film, he plays the role of a success-driven doctor prepared to go to any lengths to achieve his objectives.
"It leads him to this euphoric wish that eventually leads to his downfall," he adds.
Konkona Sen Sharma plays his wife in the film but, as Kapur insists, the opportunity of interacting with Konkona never arose, since they hardly have any scenes together.
Apart from the script, what got him excited about the role was working with Irrfan Khan.
"Fifteen years ago, Irrfan and I had co-starred in a docudrama titled "Jazeera" made by Govind Nihalani. I was excited at the idea of working with him," Kapur reveals.
Kapur has three other films lined up in the coming year, besides a cameo in "The Whisperers".
In January he will be off to Muscat for the staging of his next theatre production "Rage". He is also planning to revive his famous play "Love Letters" early next year.
"I can't complain. I am quite comfortable juxtaposing my film career with my theatre. The rest is up to destiny," he says.
