Producer Vinod Bachchan's next film, Jigariyaa, is a love story inspired from true events. Apparently, the experiences of one of his close friends made Vinod pen down his thoughts and portray an innocent love story.
But he was clear that he wouldn't direct the film so he was on a lookout for a director. And that's when Sixteen (2013) released and its director Raj Purohit was taken on board.
"I was somewhere convinced that if anyone can bring my subjects, like I have thought of, on-screen, then it is only Raj. I approached him with my story and asked if he could bring out my thoughts and visuals the way I wanted to.
He mentioned that he would change a few things and then present it before me. Initially, I was too hesitant to agree to him, but seeing him constantly working on the script and ideas, which he shared, totally convinced me that I have taken a wise decision," says Vinod.
After the completion of Zila Ghaziabad (2013), a multi-starrer action film, it was quite difficult to set the tracks for Jigariyaa. However, the casting of the film made life easier for the producer. "When I met Harshvardhan Deo at the gym, I could find resemblance between my close friend and him.
I told Raj about the same. On the other hand, Raj showed me an image of Cherry Mardia. Later, one fine day, all four of us met and while having a conversation with them, I realised that the pair is perfect for our movie and they had the traits of the characters that they will play," smiles the Tanu Weds Manu producer.
