Bollywood is buzzing with news about the film, and many critics and film buffs have dubbed 'Jigariyaa' as 'poetic', 'colourful' and a 'heart wrenching' film. Here are some of these reviews:
India's leading newspaper, The Times of India complimented the lead couple, gave the film a thumbs-up and said, "The newcomers are the film's USP and they give their best. It ably captures the beauty of small towns and first love...love before technology happened. Love before sexual desire found its place in films."
Popular news channel NDTV India rated the film 'Jigariyaa' with three stars says "Ek Pyaari Si Love Story". Renowned film-critic and editor Subhash K Jha said, "Harsh Vardhan pitches in a playfully pungent performance filled with childlike mischief and yet underlined by a sexual aggression. I liked his Romeo better than both Ranveer Singh's over-the-top and Dhanush's cocksure Romeos in earlier takes on the tragic play.". Zee News also gave the film a three star rating and termed it as, "A splashy, flamboyant, colourful and earthy take on "Romeo and Juliet".
RJ Jeeturaaj from Radio Mirchi also gave the film a three star rating, labelling it, "A sweet little small town love story with an astonishing climax! A youthful! poetic! Rajshri style love story with a climax that'll surprise you!"
Midday, Glamsham.com, BoxOfficeCapsule.com among others have also praised the film. The cast hopes the film will touch the audience hearts in the coming weeks and surprise everyone with its heartfelt story.
