All Set To Release: Classic 'Garm Hawa' gets digitally restored

M.S. Sathyu's National Award winning movie "Garm Hawa", has been digitally restored by Indikino Edutainment and is all set to re- release on Nov 14 by PVR Rare. The film Winner of National Award in 1973, the film was India's entry for the Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Film category.

Garm Hawa, stars Dinanath Zutshi and Balraj Sahni in the leading roles of the two Mirza brothers. The film will be screening across theaters in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai,Pune and Ahnedabad on November 14, 2014.

Commenting on the re-release, director M S Sathyu, said, "I am very touched that PVR Director's rare has decided to re-release Garam Hawa. The film tells a tale of the troubled times when the Partition ran family-deep. Showcasing this film to the people today will help bring about an empathetic connection with those who suffered the plight of the partition."

On the restoration of the movie, Mr. R D Deshpanday, Indikino Edutainment said, "The greatest challenge we faced while restoring the film was to enhance the quality of the picture and sound without touching the content. Tricky as the entire process was, the end result is something we at Indikino are quite proud of."

The technical aspect of the restoration process was handled by Ujwal Nirgudkar who is the Technical Director at FILMLAB. Also the audi restoration was carried out by Deluxe Lab, LA, USA.


Talking about the re-release of Garam Hawa, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, JMD, PVR Ltd. said, "We are extremely pleased to be presenting Garam Hawa to the theaters via PVR Director's Rare. With this initiative, we have been constantly trying to do away with the dearth of meaningful cinema in India. Garam Hawa is an opportunity for the generation of today to once again experience the cinematic brilliance on the big screen."

Starring Dinanath Zutshi and Balraj Sahni in the leading roles of the two Mirza brothers, "Garm Hawa" is the story of the Mirza family at the time of the Partition in 1947. "The film tells a tale of the troubled times when the Partition ran family-deep. Showcasing this film to the people today will help bring about an empathetic connection with those who suffered the plight of the partition," the noted filmmaker said in a statement.
