The last big film of 2005 Shikhar got swamped in cynicism. "Critics even said the film should be shown to your enemies. I couldn't understand the vicious remarks," says John Mathan still smarting under the unexpected blow.
His second feature film has suddenly got a new lease of life. With no releases this Friday, some theatres in Mumbai have decided to re-release Shikhar in single shows.
"I hope some more people will go see it this time without the baggage of scathing reviews weighing down their minds. I agree Shikhar isn't Sarfarosh. It was never meant to be. I'm equally proud of both." And Shahid's Screen nomination for best actor has definitely boosted the director's morale.
