The film is inspired by a true story of an Indian sports person, Prithipal Singh, who is one of the greatest Indian hockey players, survivor of partition goes onto become the best penalty corner convertor and in the process wins three Olympic medals including the 1964 Tokyo Olympic gold medal.
Talking about the film to SantaBanta.com, Babita stated, "It took us almost a year to complete the ground work for the film, though we shot the film over a period of few months. We had initially planed on making a documentary, but some how things worked in a different way and here we are with a full proof Hindi Feature film. However, The film does not consist of any songs or exaggerated scenes or masala. We have tried to stick to the facts and present different facets of Prithipal Singh's life."
Babita added, `We have shot the film in a true biopic style, so you might see a refection of an 'art film' in this film`. The producers didn't take the liberty to manipulate the story and stuck to the basic evidences.
The star cast of the film includes, Vikas Kumar, Anjali Singh, Deepak Sandhu, Baninder Singh and Kapil Kalyan, Directed by Babita Puri. 'Prithipal Singh... a story' has been picked up as the 'Best Feature' award at the Los Angeles Sports Film Festival, now the makers would seek its entry into more than 35 festivals across the globe.
The release date has not been finalised yet, but is expected to release early next year.
