Nischol is now staying in a small one room apartment belonging to his mother-in-law at Mahim in central Mumbai, the sources said.
Nischol was asked to leave the house by his brother and Bollywood producer Pravin Nischol, as the actor had no source of income, the sources said.
According to Navin, he had provided finance for the purchase of the flat several years ago, but as it was in the name of the brother he had no say in claiming ownership of the property.
Nischol had shot into fame in the 70's with hit films like 'Sawan Bhado' and 'Buddha Mil Gaya'.
