If sources are to be believed, makers of 'Mardaani' are planning a sequel to the Rani Mukerji-starrer which dealt with the issue of child trafficking. A well-placed source says Pradeep Sarkar, who helmed that film, has been asked by YRF boss Aditya Chopra to work on the second instalment too.
The source adds: "Sarkar had narrated a story idea but it was not worth a sequel. Rani, however, is willing to wait till she gets a script that's perfect for Mardaani part two."
The director confirms that he is working on a fresh story. "There is a possibility of a sequel but we need the right content. A lot of research has to be done," he says.
Mardaani, which released in August last year, was the first film from the YRF stable to have obtained an 'A' certificate as it focused on the subject on trafficking and flesh trade. Featuring Rani as a feisty cop, the action thriller earned critical acclaim and did average business at the box office.
