Director-writer Anand Kumar, who had filed a case against the makers of 'Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene' over denying him credit in the film, has something to cheer about. Four years ago, Kumar had filed a complaint with the Film Writers Association (FWA), alleging that that his colleague had stolen his script and sold it to the film's producers, and also moved the Delhi High Court, which has vindicated his stand.
A source close to Kumar says, "He had registered a case against Rajesh Chawla for stealing the script of the film and selling it to Tandav Films a few years ago. He also filed a complaint against the makers. The FWA ruled in his favour but he was not given due credit in the film. So he moved the court again and has won the case."
Not only that, the makers have also been asked to pay him a compensation of R11 lakh, the source adds. Kumar confirms the news, saying, "I know Rajesh since childhood and he used to assist me. It's upsetting when a friend betrays you. But, now the court has given its verdict, asking the makers to give me credit in the film and pay my dues, which I received on Thursday. I have always had faith in the judiciary."
Gurmmeet Singh, the director of 'Sharafat...' remained unavailable for comment.
