Hrithik's earlier films with his father Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and Koi Mil Gaya were runaway hits. They are now working on Krrish, a sequel to Koi Mil Gaya which told the story of a mentally challenged boy, who befriends a space alien.
"It's very simple. Dad and I work well together because we've already had the advantage of understanding each other at close quarters. There is no room for egos," Hrithik was quoted as saying.
"There is a certain invisible line that one can't cross, when working with others (for) fear of hurting a person's ego," he said. "There is a formal code which you can't break."
"I can very easily tell my dad that I don't like the shoot and can we do it this way... He will in no way look at it as interference and demeaning his talent and authority on the sets and vise versa," said Hrithik.
He stayed for months in Hong Kong to prepare for Krrish, an action thriller, receiving martial arts training from Hero action choreographer Tony Ching Siu-tung.
Ching, who also choreographed action sequences for Krrish, coached Hrithik for four to six hours a day, calling his pupil an "excellent student... dedicated, focused and hardworking."
Krrish is scheduled for release later this year.
