Film actress Manisha Koirala has been provided police security in the wake of protests by a section of the people here following a media report claiming she had named her pet dog after a revered Muslim figure.

Policemen have been deployed at Koirala's residence here to prevent any problem following protests over the name of her pet dog, Additional Commissioner of Police Bipin Bihari told.

A report in a leading daily had claimed that Koirala has named her pet dog after a revered Muslim figure, leading to demonstrations. However, police said the actress had no pet.
