Vidya Balan has a one more reson to rejoice these days. The Parineeta girl has been cast opposite Akshay in Pritish Nandy and Rituparno Ghosh's 'Rahgir' a repeat of Vijay Anand's 'Guide' (1965).
The project is still to be finalized and its makers are working on the details. They have approached
Akshay and Vidya and if everything work out well Akshay will play the traveller and Vidya might play
Rosie. The film will start in the next few months so that it gets released this year.
Praising the actor Nandy said, "In my view, Akshay is an extremely fine actor who has traditionally
been cast in roles where he had little opportunity to showcase his versatile acting skills. And about
Vidya, he says, "She displayed fine acting sensibilities in Parineeta. What she needs today is a film
that will put her on a different level altogether. It's time she did big-ticket numbers, and Rahgir could
be one of them."
Rituparno Ghosh who has been keen to cast Akshay in his films for some time now, said he find
great intensity in Akshay Kumar. In Akshay he find a transparency and an eagerness to learn. Guide
is beautifully love story that focuses on what happens when a tourist guide takes up with an
ex-dancer who has been abandoned by her archaeologist husband and then guides her career as she
becomes a musical star.
