Though she was brought up in Bahrain and studied in Australia, it was in Lanka that she took her initial steps with showbiz after winning the Miss Sri Lanka title. 'According to Mathew' is based on an incident in the island country about the affair and the murders by Rev Father Mathew Pieris, pastor of St Paul's Church, who was later condemned to death by hanging for the murder of his wife and the husband of his mistress.

'According to Mathew' is directed by Chandran Rutnam and is based on the true story of a Reverend in Sri Lanka who was convicted of double murders in 1979.
