So, Bipasha Basu's Hollywood debut The Lovers (formerly called Singularity) finally had a quiet release this week.

The film was released in the US on VOD and iTunes and in a few theatres on Friday.

The movie was panned in the US, so much so that the critic at The New York Observer advised the director Roland Joffe to go back to film school.

He also said that the acting was abominable and the direction had the energy of a corpse. When Bips had begun shooting for the film four years ago, there was buzz about her and co-star Josh Hartnett being more than close friends.

Looks like Bips will now prefer to forget this Hollywood outing.
