A special TADA court today allowed film actor Sanjay Dutt to visit Bangkok on a professional assignment from March 11 to 21 on certain conditions.

On a plea made by Sanjay's lawyer Farhana Shah, the designated judge P D Kode allowed the actor to visit Bangkok for shooting of Hindi film "Anthony Kaun Hai".

However, the judge asked Sanjay to appear before the court on March 14 (when his regular appearance was scheduled) if it was absolutely necessary or else in his absence he may be represented by a lawyer.

The court also warned Sanjay not to maintain any contact with the absconding accused and to file a detailed programme of his visit with the registrar of the court.

Sanjay is facing the allegation of possessing an AK-56 rifle supplied by extradited underworld don Abu Salem before the 1993 Mumbai blasts and later destroying it with the help of his friends. However, the actor denied the charges and the witnesses also did not support the prosecution.

The court is engaged in preparation of giving its verdict in the bomb blast case in which the accused are facing the charge of conspiring and creating a chain of explosions at 13 prime locations in the city on March 12, 1993 allegedly at the behest of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

The delivery of the verdict was delayed because of gangster Salem's arrest after his extradition from Portugal. He is facing the charge of supplying arms to co-accused, including Dutt.

Salem has confessed his role in the 1993 blasts case saying he had supplied arms to co-accused including an AK-56 rifle to Dutt. However, he later retracted his confession alleging that it was given under pressure.
