The Mumbai crime branch team arrested Ravindra Patil, Salman's former bodyguard from a hotel and have lodged him in Bandra Jail. He is reported to be produced before a holiday magistrate today.
Earlier, a non-bailable warrant was issued against Patil, as he failed to appear for the trial in the case.
Patil, the sole witness in the hit-and-run case, was accompanying Salman when he met with the accident, in which the actor is accused of killing one person and injuring four by ramming his Land Cruiser car in to a bakery in suburban Bandra.
The accident took place on September 28, 2002.
Though Patil had appeared as a witness twice and have told the police that Salman was under the influence of liquor and had advised the actor not to drive rashly or else he would meet with an accident, did not appear in the court on four occasions for being cross-examined.
Even though the court issued non-bailable warrant against him on February 7, and 10, Patil failed to appear before the Court and was reported missing.
The hit and run case will resume from March 16 with the deposition of Patil.
