Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
Audrey Hepburn. She was a beautiful woman with so much charm. For me, what was most captivating about her was her inner beauty and compassion, which were manifest in her role as a voice for the needy children of the world. She inspires me by reminding me that true beauty comes from within.
What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you (aside from winning your title) and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?
The most unique thing that has ever happened to me was being asked to be the godmother of a ten-year-old Ecuadorian girl three days after we first met and to attend her first communion.
What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
There are many people who need health care, but do not have access to it. I believe that health care is a right, and my goal is to help make health care available to more people in the more the world. As Miss Taiwan, I have been working to connect health resources with those who need them. IN addition, I have been studying for a Master's degree in public health, with plans to pursue a Ph.D.
Are you currently a student? If yes, where? What is your area of study?
Columbia University School of Public Health., Master's in Public Health.
List any interesting or unsual jobs you may have had.
One of my most interesting experiences was working at the office of Senator Hillary Clinton where I helped people overcome obstacles they encountered trying to obtain health care.
Describe your childhood home and living conditions. Were you raised with a large family with lots of brothers and sisters?
My older sister and I played frequently with our many cousins -- it was like having 20 siblings! A close-knit extended family is a hallmark of Taiwanese culture. The loving environment of my childhood taught me the importance of sharing and being considerate of others.
What one word describes you best?
Compassionate.
