The Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Alvarez will be producing a new `The Texas Chainsaw Massacre` film for Legendary Pictures. Alvarez, who already did wonders with Sam Raimi`s `Evil Dead` seems like the ideal candidate for another classic horror remake.

Sources report that while plans aren`t set in stone, Alvarez wants to make a sequel to Tobe Hooper`s `74 film, similar to what Blumhouse and Universal have done withHalloween. Unfortunately, Texas Chain Saw Massacre`s Final Girl, Marilyn Burns, passed away in 2014. It will be interesting to see how the story will continue without her, although it could just focus on the current state of the Sawyer family.

`The Texas Chainsaw Massacre` was co-written by Kim Henkel and Tobe Hooper and directed by Tobe Hooper. Inspired by the crimes of Ed Gein, the movie is the story of Sally, Franklin and their three friends who run out of gas while driving to their grandfather`s house. One by one they are tormented and killed by a chainsaw-wielding killer and his psychopathic family.
