Sophie Dahl is suing Marie Claire for £50,000 after the magazine doctored one of her photographs to make it look as though she had posed nude. The model claims that Marie Claire airbrushed out her bra straps on their June 2000 cover photograph, erroneously giving the impression that she had been naked when the shots were taken.
Dahl, 25, who is dating Mick Jagger, has not seemed concerned about naked pictures in the past, even causing a huge furore last year with her controversial legs-akimbo advertisements for Opium perfume. A size 16 when she shot to fame, Dahl was a size 12 when she posed for the Marie Claire pictures. She also claims that the magazine broke a promise not to mention her size or to use the pictures in a feature about women's figures. Marie Claire published its June 2000 issue with two covers - one of Sophie and one of Pamela Anderson. Readers were asked to chose which they preferred. 'We strongly disagree with her complaints,' says a spokesman for IPC, publishers of Marie Claire.
