Hosting the 2004 Juno Awards ceremonies, Canada's version of the Grammys, she removed her robe to reveal a comical nude body suit with cartoonish nipples and pubic hair. To wild applause, Morissette stated that, "I am proud to be able to stand here and do this."
"We live in a land where we still think the human body is beautiful and we're not afraid of the female breast," the singer said, after stepping out of a dressing gown to reveal her "nudity".
Morissette continued her playfullness and removed her "tear-away" nipples and pubic hair when the in-house announcer advised that "we can't show nipples on national TV...and you can't show your pubic hair either."
Morissette then criticised a radio station in the US for forcing her to change strong language in one of her recent songs.
"They're in an era when they're scared, when there's lots of fear," she said.
Standing on stage in her full-length body suit, the singer lauded Canadians who "live in a land where we still think the human body is beautiful and we're not afraid of the female breast."
This year's Juno Awards saw Nelly Furtado pick up the Best Single' trophy for 'Powerless (Say What You Want)' and Nickelback walk away with Best Group.
