British actress Kate Winslet, who starred in the hit movie Titanic, is to separate from her husband Jim Threapleton, the actress's spokesman said Monday.
The spokesman added: "No other parties are involved in this amicable and respectful separation. Their daughter Mia will remain first priority for both of them." The spokesman refused to reveal the reasons for the split.
Winslet married Threapleton after meeting when he was an assistant director on the set of her movie Hideous Kinky in Morocco in 1998. She said she "fell in love at first sight".
The couple married in November 1998. Their daughter, Mia, was born in October last year.
Winslet recently told September's edition of "In Style" magazine how her career came second to her home life. "An actor's happiness has to come from something other than work," she told the magazine.
Having a baby had "strengthened the relationship although there are highs and lows and at times it's tough."
