At least 4,000 Syrian refugees were invited in a wedding party by a Turkish couple who decided to spend their wedding day feeding the refugees.
The wedding feast was held in the Turkish border town of Kilis which is home to tens of thousands of refugees who are fleeing war-torn Syria.
The couple, Fethullah Uzumcuoglu and Esra Polat, decided to donate their families` savings to feed 4,000 refugees instead of spending the money on a banquet for their wedding guests.
The act of kindness by the couple soon went viral after photographs of the couple was shared by the Turkish charity Kimse Yok Mu on Twitter and was widely shared on Istagram and Facebook.
The groom`s father, Ali, told the local media, "We thought that on such a happy day, we would share the wedding party with our Syrian brothers and sisters."
The bride said she was shocked and quickly came around to the idea, and helped serve the refugees Thursday in her bridal finery, complete with a golden tiara.
"It was such a wonderful experience," the bride quoted by the Independent said. "I'm happy that we had the opportunity to share our wedding meal with the people who are in real need."
"Seeing the happiness in the eyes of the Syrian refugee children is just priceless," said the groom. "We started our journey to happiness with making others happy and that`s a great feeling."
