IPL is set to return to UAE for the second time after it was hosted there in 2014 due to the Indian general elections being held in that year. This time around it's the coronavirus pandemic that has brought IPL to UAE shores.
On Friday, IPL governing council chairman, Brijesh Patel told Cricbuzz about the news. The official Twitter handle of Cricbuzz tweeted, "IPL 2020 to be played from September 19, final to be held on November 8, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel confirms to Cricbuzz". Check out the tweet here:

While there was speculation that the IPL will start from September 26th, the BCCI decided to advance it by a week to ensure that the Indian cricket team's Australia tour will not be affected by the league matches.
Further details regarding the plan of team departure and the full schedule of the tournament will be announced soon at the IPL Governing Council meeting, next week.
