We all are aware of George Floyd's death story, after which protests were held globally against the use of excessive force by police officers against black suspects and lack of police accountability. Protests began in Minneapolis, the day after Mr. Floyd's death and developed in cities throughout all 50 US states and internationally.
As of May 25th, George Floyd, a 46 year old black man was arrested by Minneapolis police officers who thought that he was the accused of purchasing cigarettes with a counterfeit $ 20 bill. Seventeen minutes after the squad arrived at the scene, Mr. Floyd was unconscious and pinned beneath 3 cops, showing no sign of life.
After three months of this incident, CNN has released new footage of police body camera showing Minneapolis police pointing gun at George Floyd and struggling with him during his fatal arrest. Around 4 minutes of the video shows the cops forcibly pulled George from his car and handcuffed him. Check out the video:
The day after Mr. Floyd's death, the police department fired all four officers involved in this episode. Hennepin County prosecutors have filed second-degree murder charge on Mr. Chauvin, who is white, and accused of keeping his knee on Mr. Floyd's neck for at least 8 minutes and 15 seconds.
