Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will eye a winning return as they square off in Match 47 of the Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020
at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
SRH, who have secured 4 wins from 11 matches, are currently in the bottom half of the points table while DC, who have 7 wins from 11 games are placed on the
second spot in the standings.
SRH are coming into this game on the back of their 12-run loss against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in a low-scoring thriller. On the other hand, this will be
DC's first game since their 59-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
SRH had the game against KXIP won. For all conceivable intents and purposes, that game was theirs till about the final two overs of the match but SRH was
never able to close it out. As a result, SRH has to try and win every single match that it now has remaining and also must hope for a few more things to go
its way.
We always knew that SRH was dependent on David Warner and Jonny Bairstow to help it win matches. Both these players have been getting starts but have not
been able to convert them into something more significant.
Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankkar managed to win a match for SRH against RR but struggled in the previous match. It looks more and more likely that a match-
winning batting performance is going to have to come from the bat of one of the openers.
With the likes of Abdul Samad, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, and Priyam Garg in the lineup, theoretically SRH should have enough batting to be competitive. DC,
however, has a good bowling attack that could make life tough for this lineup.
SRH had an excellent bowling performance in its most recent match. We don't think they are going to change anything around and the same set of players will
play. Rashid Khan has been superb and is only going to get more dangerous as the pitches start to wear. He could be the match-winner that SRH is looking for
in this match. Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, Jason Holder, and T Natarajan round out a decent bowling attack.
The Delhi Capitals have lost two games in a row and while that is not a cause for concern right now, DC will want to get back to winning ways quickly. Some
strange decisions with regard to team selection and matchups have put DC in a position where they have to fight to finish int he top-2.
For this match, we are almost certain that Tushar Deshpande is going to be dropped in place of Harshal Patel. Ajinkya Rahane should get one more opportunity
at the top of the order and maybe a change in the batting order to elevate Shimron Hetmyer may be in order.
DC has some inherent strengths that will always make it a tough team to come up against. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje are in terrific form. Their bowling
partnership is going to ask questions of every single batsman that faces them.
Similarly, Axar Patel and Ravi Ashwin are an excellent spin-bowling duo. Suni Narine may have smashed Ashwin around the park in the previous match but that
does not take away from his quality.
Bowling is not a concern for DC. It still has one of the best bowling attacks in IPL 2020.
The batting is where DC has to be careful. Shreyas Iyer and Rishab Pant have lost form in the middle order while the opening pair is being changed. Shikhar
DHawan has been the only consistent player in the lineup and is covering up a lot of DC's batting faults.
Marcus Stoinis could struggle a bit as the pitches start to slow and this is why we think Hetmyer might be more useful than Pant at 4. Hetmyer is an
excellent player of spin and plays on slow surfaces all the time in the Caribbean. He could be suited to playing in the middle and taking the attack to the
spinners as needed.
Weather Forecast
The temperature is expected to hover around 28 and 30 degrees during the match. The forecast shows no chance of rain. The humidity will be around 37 per
cent and the wind speed around 18 kmph.
Pitch Report
Dubai International Cricket Stadium pitch has slowed down considerably, with the slow bowlers ruling the roost of late. The pitch has been favouring the
team batting second because in the second innings as the evening progresses, dew makes it trickier for the bowlers to grip the ball. The average scores come
down to around 159 in Dubai and this will only come down further.
Toss Prediction
In the last five matches played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the team batting second has won the match four times. Considering the result re
ults and the dew factor, the team winning the toss is expected to field first. The team batting first would want to put a total of at least 160-170 runs on
the board to feel comfortable defending.
